Our school counselors are available to provide the following services to students, parents, school staff, and the community:
Direct Services for Students Direct services are in-person interactions between school counselors and students. Counselors are available for specific student needs as well as for attendance interventions, testing needs and interpretations, and recruiting opportunities.
Individual Student Planning: School counselors coordinate ongoing systemic activities designed to assist students in establishing personal goals and developing future plans. Students meet with counselor at the beginning of each school year to revisit and/or make any changes necessary to his/her Plan of Study. Plans of Study are specific to the student's interest, skills, and abilities assessment as well as their program of best fit.
Responsive Services: Responsive services are activities designed to meet students' immediate needs and concerns. Responsive services may include counseling in individual or small-group settings or crisis response. Western Technology Center has staff trained as Critical Response Team and are available to assist surrounding schools when necessary.
Indirect Services for Students Indirect services are provided on behalf of students as a result of the school counselors' interactions with others including referrals for additional assistance, consultation and collaboration with parents, teachers, other educators and community organizations. Counselors collaborate regularly with public school counselors to assist with career guidance as well as informing them of updates and policy requirements for the referral and enrollment process.
